Suzanne “SpiritGirl” Jones is an emerging Sunshine Coast poet whose writing and live performance has been heavily influenced by the slam movement in the US and her own spiritual framework. Her favourite poets include Diane Di Prima, Pinero, Maura O’Connor and Oni the Haitian Sensation.
She has been the co-convenor of ouTsideRS, Qld's premier performance poetry event, since its inception in 2005. Suzanne was co-winner of the Speedpoets Open Mic Championship 2005 as part of National Poetry Week and has performed regularly in QLD including the QLD Poetry Festival. Her work has been often published in street mags such as Speedpoets, ouTsideR, and Tsunami.
Suzanne is currently bearing the love-child of an unknown ancient Greek god who appeared as a giant black cat whom she hopes will pay alimony in the form of a quick and painless birth followed by a cigarette, gin, seafood and sex (more than likely in that order).
